At the beginning of this session we said, “We are so immersed in culture and sustained by it that we are unaware of it unless we do two things.
i. Pause and evaluate.
ii. Invite someone from outside the fish bowl to observe and assess.That someone can be a coach who is trained to observe culture.
It can be as simple as inviting a guest who does not go to church, to attend on a Sunday. Give them a list of things to pay attention to. Take them out for lunch afterwards and let them tell you their experience.
Arrange for a “secret shopper” to attend a weekend service – preferably onsite, but during COVID, online would be acceptable. Have them report to what they observe and share the info here in the question area.
