Step 1: The First Impression

What kinds of host teams do you have (i.e. greeters, ushers, lobby hosts, coffee shop hosts, etc.)?   What kind of training does someone get when they join each team?

From the perspective of a newcomer, take a walk through your church from the front door, kids drop-off, bathroom, to the pew.   Take a good look at the floors, walls, light fixtures, and decorations.  1) Are there any “wow” moments where you are genuinely proud to show something off?  If so, what?  2)Are there any “ewww” moments where you see dirt, clutter, or something out of style?  If so, what?

How much thought do you give to the vocabulary you use during your worship, sermon, and welcome? How confident are you that a new person would understand everything you say?

How often do you explain the Gospel and give people an opportunity to respond?  Do you ever explain the Gospel and skip the prayer?  Do you ever do the prayer and skip the explanation?
